TULA THE TRAITOROUS TROUBADOUR

A Summary of the 3/14/98 Session

By Brian P. Clausen 6/26/98

Surprising the ghostly T'skrang and Tula the Ork in her room, Pole wisely decides to let her and the potling poltergeist pack and beats a hasty retreat. As he returns to Aliou the rest of the party rejoins them and the usual animated discussion about what to do next breaks out.

Mia informs them that the only thing that will restore Morok to consciousness and reverse the ebbing of his lifeforce is a special medicine rumored to be found only in the mountainous "Vault" in the center of the continent. Aliou convinces the party that it is the right thing to do. It is agreed that a second party of Keshites should bring Morok upriver so as to hasten the administration of whatever medicine might be recovered.

The party sets off and reaches the Vault without significant mishap. They descend into the crater with the help of an air elemental and Aliou's new Air Wagon spell. Eventually they come upon the stone remains of an ancient city with muralled buildings. They find a promising opening which when viewed astrally shows a significant quantity of astral pattern deep below.

The party descends into the earth and after dealing with several traps reaches a large, darkened room with a ring of pillars and a square pit in the center of the room. Tula addresses them from somewhere in the darkness, clearly anticipating that the party would come here. The party does not parley, clearly anticipating that they were going to kick her butt all over this mossy quarry. Nethe cleverly runs around the room dropping light sticks to shed a little light on the subject.

The party soon finds out the good news and the bad news. The good news is that the pit contains a magically healing mud. The bad news is that the pillars are really illusionary and hide a force of baddies. A massive combat ensues which once again brings the party to the very brink of extinction. They win a hard-fought victory but to their chagrin Tula has survived and makes a break for the exit.

Will Tula escape and call forth terrible horrors to descend upon the very vulnerable party? Does Verjigorm in fact make his earthly home here in the center of the continent and even now prepares to reveal himself and bring doom upon the party? Find out in the next installment!
