CITY ON A HILL, PITY ABOUT THE BILL
A Summary of the 8/15/98 Session
By Brian P. Clausen 8/15/98
The horrible dwarf potlings, realizing they cannot escape, rally for a last attempt against the party nearly taking out both Oxander and Demek.
However, virtue and superior armor on the side of our heroes proves telling and victory is achieved without losing any party members. After healing up the party takes a left passage leading from the cavern.
They discover a room with a number of empty cells. They also find fused-stone chests that according to the Leelay, Aliou's elemental familiar, appear to contain clothes and weapons are were probably the possessions of those captured and brought here.
Aliou uses his deep-earth storage spell on them and they go back and try the right passage. This leads to a natural cavern that served as the dragon's lair. A single scale is embedded in a stalactite in the ceiling.
Apparenltly being the object of Pole's search for his axe, the party retrieves it. After some speculation as to how the scale connects with Pole's axe, Oxander advises Pole to try rubbing the scale against his axe to see if it causes certain imperfections
to be removed from the latter. (This eventually proves to be correct.)
The party finds one last passage leading considerably eastward. They take it, use a spell to blast their way through a fused-rock dead end, and find themselves free of the accursed trap-ridden mountain.
Footprints... yada yada yada.
Meanwhile, back in the city on a hill, the party members get the feeling they are being followed.
