After regrouping the party quickly determines that the Horrors mean to keep the party trapped in the mine, perhaps waiting to strike at them when they try to get out. The party searches for an alternative exit and finds a tunnel leading under water. With the help of a magical Gills spell the party explores this option.
Eventually the party gets swept up in the current and travels a great distance
down and a fair distance to the west. They are finally deposited in a lake in
a dark cavern. Upon leaving the lake they find a primitive community with houses
made of stone. A pile of skulls outside the community makes just the sort of
welcome that the party has come to expect on this horrid continent.
